Faren & Michael's E/Family Session

After the zoo, I met Faren, Michael, and Marcus at Pacific University (where Faren attends) for a family/engagement session. They are such an adorable little family, and Marcus was such a good boy. He reminds me of Noah when he was a baby...very laid back and sweet. And, although I am totally done having babies, he definitely made my heart melt. I'm looking forward to seeing them all again in June!

I always listen to music while I edit images, and right now I'm listening to The Shins.

I love this one...

Faren told me about this colorful wall near the campus, and I'm so glad she did, because it was a lot of fun to shoot there!

Delia & Darren at the zoo!

I knew Delia & Darren wanted something different from their wedding photographs when Delia pulled out a blurry picture of the two of them sitting next to a bonfire. And, I was excited when they said they wanted to go to the zoo for their engagement session. Delia & Darren are just awesome, I don't know how better to put it, and I'm looking forward to shooting their wedding in a couple weeks!

This was the only shot they requested because they took their very first picture together right here...

In the petting zoo...

Now, that's not very nice...or maybe it is...I'm not really up on goat culture and customs...

It's nice to share (a mouse)...

We ended at the Lorikeet exhibit where we met my boys...

Super secret promo code! Shh!

I've been looking for the perfect way to show my clients their images online, and I'm so excited to announce the launch of my new proofing site! The site is easy to use, has a nice layout, and will make print and album ordering go so much smoother. Another thing I love about it is that it's linked to my website, so no more going to another website to view your images. To honor this launch, you can enter the promo code, SPRING08, and get 20% off purchases of $77 or more (I like weird numbers, ok!). The promo code is good until June 1st.

If you'd like to see a demo gallery, click here, and put in the password: demo, or go click on the clients link from my website, and put in the password, demo. I just quickly through together a gallery of random images. Some of the images are pretty old, and even more have never been seen! (well, at least not by the general public)

When your own images are ready to see, you will receive an e-mail with the link and password information, and then another e-mail with your print credit code.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Artichoke Music

I met the fantastic guys at Artichoke Music (on Hawthorne) today. I shot some portraits of the owner, Richard, and his partner, Jim, for a national magazine, Music, Inc. I've walked/driven past that place so many times over the years, but never went in because I thought it was just a regular music store, but after going there today I realized it's so much more than that. True, they are a music store, and they have beautifully unique instruments on the walls in the front, but they also have a non-profit with rooms for private lessons, a stage in the back for show, and a community music room. I had so much fun photographing their impromptu little jam session, and will definitely be checking out some of the shows.

Thanks for looking! Have a great weekend!

Matt & Ettie: E-Session

I've always wanted to do an engagement session amongst the cherry blossom trees, so I was super excited when Matt & Ettie wanted to do the same. When we arrived on the waterfront I was extremely bummed because most of the cherry blossoms had already fallen from the trees, but we found a patch, and all was well again! They were both so much fun to work with, and we got along really well. Ettie, especially, was really into the shoot (although Matt did great, too!), which I loved. And, I have to be honest, when couples are really into the shoot, I get way better pictures. So, here's some of my favorites!

The sun was beautiful, but it was quite a bit colder than it looks!

I let them put their coats on towards the end. :)

I love how fierce Ettie looks here (yes, I admit that I do watch ANTM sometimes, but mostly because I like seeing the pics at the end!).

P.S. I'd love to do more sessions amongst the cherry blossoms! ;)

The babies I stay home with...

Wow, it's not snowing today...yay! Just in time, too, I have an engagement session tonight! But first, here are some images of my babies. One of them you might not recognize because we just got him the day before Easter. His name is Lono, and he's 12 weeks old. He's a chocolate point non-standard Munchkin, and he is so sweet. We all love him so much! Also, I felt guilty for not having any recent pics of Calvin, so I put him up on my window ledge thing, and crossed my fingers that I'd get at least one shot because he is the most difficult child to take pictures of...or maybe I was just spoiled with Noah, who has always been a ham, I don't know. Anyway, here's a few from our quick 10 min. session! (Btw, they are both sitting on my lap right now! lol)

Meet Lono...isn't he adorable?? :)

I know, the cord is wrapped around his neck (which is why I always keep my blinds cords up!). I fixed it just after this shot!
