Another WPJA win!

An image from Lula & David's wedding placed 16th in the emotion category of the latest WPJA contest. I loved this image, and was really hoping it would place. The woman in the back is the officiant.

I think this one from Lanisha & Tyler's wedding should have placed, too. Oh, well, I guess I'll have to live with just one winning image. lol

Thanks for being such awesome clients that win me awards! :)

Another win in an [AG]WPJA contest!

One of my images placed 8th in the engagement portrait section of the [AG]WPJA contest! Everyone likes to win contests, but I feel that the [AG]WPJA has some of the best wedding photographers in the world. The organization is about mixing photojournalism with fine art, which is what I strive to do whenever I shoot, and it's an honor for me even to be a member, let alone place in the top ten. .

This is one of my all time favorite engagement images. Brad and Cassie, who are getting married Sept. 5th, let me have a lot of creative control over the images, and we got some great images that evening.

Here's the winning image...

I'm off to shoot Aimee & Jason's wedding now!

WPJA Contest Winner!

Not only did I get a beautiful sample wedding album in today, and tonight is another episode of "Lost," but I also found out I placed 3rd in the emotion category of the WPJA contest! (Ok, so maybe the other two don't really match up, but all three just made this a fabulous day!) The image is from Lauren and Jesse's wedding last November, and I remember how I felt when I took it. I was on the verge of tears myself watching this father-daughter moment.

The judges comments: "I assume this is a bride with her father. The expression of bride’s love and the father’s show of emotion is straightforward and the photographer was right in the straight on position. The bride and her father (I assume) had the confidence in the photographer to be comfortable in displaying their emotions. This confidence of the subjects and the ability of the photographer to be in the correct position made this photograph possible."

[AG]WPJA Contest Winner!

I am so excited to announce that one of my images placed 8th in the ceremony category of the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association's 4th quarterly contest, a division of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). I'm really pleased to have my work placed so highly amongst such talented photographers.

The judges said, "The bride looks like she’s on the verge of tears as she is whisked away with her groom after the ceremony. The duo-toning and touch of grain give this image the look and feel of a movie still."
